GFWC Alabama

Welcome to the Alabama Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC Alabama).  GFWC Alabama is a state organization composed of women’s clubs throughout the State of Alabama whose members provide volunteer service to their local communities.  Our primary purpose is to carry out charitable service programs, provide leadership opportunities, and enrich the lives of our members through personal growth.  GFWC Alabama has 59 General, Juniorette and Cyber clubs throughout our State.

GFWC Alabama is a proud member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (www.gfwc.org). GFWC clubs and clubwomen are the fabric that binds not only the Federation, but the communities in which they live and work. By Living the Volunteer Spirit, GFWC clubwomen transform lives each day, not simply with monetary donations, but with hands-on tangible projects that provide immediate impact. With a grassroots approach that often thinks locally but impacts globally, GFWC, its clubs and members remain committed to serving as a force for global good, as it has done since its formation in 1890. The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) is a nonprofit organization that brings together over 80,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state, the District of Columbia, and more than a dozen countries. GFWC members are community leaders who work locally to create global change by supporting the arts, preserving natural resources, advancing education, promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging civic involvement, and working toward world peace and understanding.  The GFWC headquarters is located in Washington, D.C.

By joining us, you will have the opportunity to work with other women to improve the social, cultural and physical needs in your city or town.  In so doing, you will meet and make new friends, expand your knowledge of the needs in your community, and become a better citizen of your community. Through membership in GFWC Alabama, you will grow as a person in leadership and bring new interests into your home.
