President's Project
Caroline Hollowell
2026 - 2028

President’s Special Project is Powering Potential - Read. During the 2026-2028 administration we will focus on childhood literacy. We want to ensure that every child in our communities have access to books, reading support, and encouragement to learn. Through partnerships with schools, libraries, and local organizations, clubs can expand tutoring, hold book drives, and encourage family reading initiatives. GFWC Alabama will partner with Reach Out and Read Alabama, a statewide program that promotes early childhood literacy by partnering with pediatric healthcare providers to give young children books during well-child visits.
Medical professionals guide parents on the importance of reading aloud and building language skills from birth. By integrating literacy into routine healthcare, Reach Out and Read helps strengthen school readiness and healthy development. Its collaborative approach supports stronger families, improved learning outcomes, and brighter futures for Alabama’s children. By investing in literacy today, GFWC Alabama can be a part of building confident learners, stronger families, and brighter futures across Alabama, advancing GFWC’s mission of service and meaningful community change. GFWC Alabama will work to inspire a lifelong love of reading for children during the Powering Potential - Read initiative.
